Sonoma County and Napa County, the heart of Northern California Wine Country, fabled for the weather, beauty, ambiance, hospitality and of course the wine.
Each county is very unique and guests sometimes find a personal preference easily. Sonoma County can feel less traveled as there are many back country roads to get lost on. The coast is closer so the weather can be tempered by the coastal breeze in the summer. Napa Valley is paralleled by Hwy 29 and the Silverado Trail on the valley floor, cross roads connect both sides. Larger wineries add to the size and scale of the valley making things there seem larger to me personally.
It is completely possible to wine taste in one valley in the morning and the other in the afternoon, should you desire to do so. A well thought out itinerary is the key.
